# The Teacher Gift That Actually Gets Used: Give an Experience From the Whole Class

**World Teachers' Day is Friday 30 October.** If you've just been nominated as class gift organiser (or quietly volunteered yourself in the group chat), take a breath. This is the easy one.

### Teachers spend their days making space for other people's kids to grow. This year's World Teachers' Day theme is *Shine a light on teachers*, and we can't think of a better way to do that than giving them a few hours of light, play and adventure of their own.

### Here's how to pool the class's contributions with GroupTogether and turn them into a SPARK POP eGift Card, all online, with no cash in envelopes and no chasing parents at pick-up.

🎁 Why an Experience Gift Works for Teachers

Ask any teacher what's in their cupboard at the end of the year and you'll hear the same answer: mugs. Lots of mugs. Plus candles, chocolates and "World's Best Teacher" everything.

They're lovely gestures, but a SPARK POP gift card gives them something different:

- **A day out they choose themselves.** With 1,400+ curated experiences across Australia, from wildlife encounters and river cruises to theatre, cooking workshops and outdoor adventures, there's something for every kind of teacher.
- **Time with their own people.** Many teachers have families of their own who see a lot less of them in the busy end-of-term stretch. An experience gift is a thank you that comes with a day of reconnecting built in.
- **No clutter, no expiry pressure.** SPARK POP Gift Cards don't expire, so they can save it for the summer holidays when they finally get a breather.
- **Fair for every family.** Pooling means everyone chips in what feels right, and the class gives one meaningful gift instead of thirty small ones.

*No wrapping. No batteries. Just memories.*

## 🛠️ How to Organise a Class Gift With GroupTogether (Step by Step)

### Step 1: Start your collection and choose a card

Head to GroupTogether and start a teacher gift collection. Pick a card design (there are loads of teacher-themed ones) and personalise it with the teacher's name and your class.

### Step 2: Set how parents can contribute

You can ask for a set amount, let families give any amount, or allow people to sign the card without chipping in. That last option is a lovely touch. Every family gets to be part of the thank you, whatever their budget. Contributions are private too, so nobody sees who gave what.

### Step 3: Share the link

Drop the collection link into your class WhatsApp, Facebook group or email list. Parents don't need to download an app or create an account. They just click, chip in, and write their message on the card. Kids can add photos and drawings too!

### Step 4: Choose the SPARK POP eGift Card

When the collection closes, go to the GroupTogether gift store and select the **SPARK POP eGift Card** (available from $25). If you're thanking more than one person, such as the class teacher plus a teacher aide or specialist teacher, you can split the funds into separate gifts.

### Step 5: Deliver it on the day

Send the card and gift digitally on Friday morning, or download the card as a PDF to print and hand over with a class photo. Then sit back and enjoy the happy-tears messages from the teacher.

## Running Short on Time?

Teachers' Day is close, but this is very doable:

- **Monday:** Start the collection and share the link with the class.
- **Wednesday:** Send one friendly reminder.
- **Thursday night:** Close the collection and choose the SPARK POP eGift Card.
- **Friday morning:** Deliver the card and gift.

Missed Teachers' Day? The same steps work for end-of-year gifts in December, which is the biggest teacher-gifting moment of the year.

## Copy and Paste Message for the Class Chat

Feel free to use or tweak this one:

> Hi everyone! 🍎 World Teachers' Day is this Friday (30 Oct) and I'm putting together a class card and gift for \[Teacher's name\]. We're pooling for a SPARK POP experience gift card so they can enjoy a day out of their choice. Chip in any amount (or just sign the card!) here: \[link\]. Contributions are private, and the collection closes Thursday night. Thank you! 💛

**Card message ideas for kids:**

- "Thanks for helping me grow this year. Now it's your turn for an adventure!"
- "You made learning fun. We hope you have the BEST day out!"
- "Thank you for being our favourite part of the school day."

## Teacher Gift FAQs

**How much should each family contribute?** There's no right answer, and that's the beauty of a group gift. Many organisers suggest a small amount, around $10–$20, but leaving it open and letting families sign without contributing keeps it inclusive.

**Are teachers allowed to accept gifts?** Gift rules for school staff vary by state and school. Group gifts from a whole class are generally treated differently to a large gift from one family, but it's worth checking your state's education department guidelines or asking the school office. GroupTogether also lets you split a collection into smaller gifts if needed.

**What if the teacher doesn't have kids?** No problem. SPARK POP's collection includes plenty of experiences for grown-ups, from sunset cruises and cooking classes to wellness experiences and outdoor adventures. They can also gift it on to a niece, nephew or friend's family.

**Can we use the same method for a kid's birthday group gift?** Absolutely! Pooling for a SPARK POP gift card is a brilliant alternative to a pile of small toys at a birthday party. You can also chip in for a specific experience directly on SPARK POP using PaySquad at checkout.

**Does the SPARK POP Gift Card expire?** No. SPARK POP Gift Cards have no expiry date, so the teacher can use it whenever suits.
