The Museum of Brisbane is excited to introduce its latest addition: the Micro Museum. This innovative and thoughtfully designed space is dedicated to the curators of tomorrow, inviting kids of all ages to bring their big ideas and creativity to life. Opening just ahead of the school holidays, the Micro Museum is a permanent feature that promises year-round fun and engagement.

Children are encouraged to get hands-on, selecting, sorting, and arranging curated collections from a vast array of mini vintage and second-hand treasures. Forget stuffy glass displays; here, every small piece has a unique story to share. This dynamic environment fosters creativity and curiosity, making it a must-visit for families looking to explore and experiment together.

What to expect at the Micro Museum
Interactive and Immersive Experiences

 

At the Micro Museum, kids can spend as little or as long as they like in a world of immersive experiences and interactive activities. From imaginative collages to badge-making and toy creation, the possibilities are endless. These activities are designed to be both fun and educational, encouraging children to think like curators and storytellers.

The space is inspired by the upcoming Precious exhibition, which showcases collector’s pieces relating to Brisbane and curated by locals. Multi-generational collaboration is encouraged, making it a place where families can come together to create and discover.

Special holiday activities for the whole family

The Museum of Brisbane has a packed program of special activities for the Easter holidays. From the Monster Mashup collage workshop to the Precious Punk Badge Studio, there are plenty of options to keep kids entertained and engaged. These activities are either free or as we like to say as 'cheap as chips', making them accessible for everyone. For tweens and teens, the Crafty Movers Workshop offers a unique opportunity to craft and construct a moveable toy using simple automaton principles. This spectacular new addition to Warner Bros. Movie World will hit those flashback buttons for parents and make little eyes light up! With 96cm and 4-year-old requirements, this one is perfect for our pre-primary and primary-aged kids who often miss out. The world-first Wizard of Oz precinct features two family-friendly coasters: The Flight of the Wicked Witch, a thrilling suspended family coaster with a 454-meter-long track and speeds up to 67 km/h, and Kansas Twister, a family boomerang racer with dual racing tracks and speeds up to 58 km/h.

Guests will get to immerse yourself in the magic of The Wizard of Oz with projection mapping, stunning sculptures, and facades as you follow The Yellow Brick Road to the Land of Oz. Designed with low height and age restrictions, these high-capacity attractions are set to provide a magical experience for all ages.
