# A Mini + Me Date at Bluey’s World: Oliver & Silvana’s Story

There’s something truly special about taking time out for a **mini + me date,** those one-on-one adventures that spark curiosity, laughter, and connection. Recently, one of our SPARK POP Squad families, Silvana and her 12-year-old son Oliver set off for a day at **Bluey’s World in Brisbane**.

#### Can a 12-year-old still love Bluey's World? We asked the experts: SPARK POP Squad members Silvana and her son Oliver, who swapped a regular weekday for a mini + me date in Brisbane. Spoiler: the magic doesn't stop at preschool. It just changes shape.

From Bluey Fan to Behind the Scenes

#### Oliver was a huge Bluey fan when he was little. These days he's a homeschooled tween with a growing interest in acting and how productions come together. So when he stepped into Bluey's World, he wasn't just looking at the Heeler house. He was looking at how it was made.

#### That's the beauty of a great immersive experience. Little kids see Bluey's house. A young actor sees the sets, the props, the lighting and the storytelling choices that bring a show to life. Same place, completely different adventure, and for Oliver, a day that fed straight into the thing he loves most.

## Bluey's World Through Teens Eyes

When asked about his day, Oliver shared:

> 🗣️ *“I loved seeing how they brought the world of Bluey to life. It reminded me of when I watched the show as a kid, but I also looked at it differently now — like, how do they design all of this? How do they set it up so people feel like they’re really inside Bluey’s house?”*

 

For kids with a passion for acting or performing, it's a rare chance to step inside a world built for the screen and see how the magic is made. And for homeschooling families, it doubles as a brilliant real-world lesson in set design, storytelling and how a TV show becomes a place you can walk through.

## A Mum and Son Day to Remember

Silvana shared how the experience wasn’t just about Oliver stepping back into a familiar world, but about spending time together.

> 🗣️ *“It was really beautiful to see him connect with something he loved as a little one, while also looking at it with more grown-up eyes. For me, it was a chance to pause and just enjoy the day with him, without the usual distractions.”*

## Hanging Out with Oli

After their visit, I caught up with Silvana and Oli to hear how it went, and ended up having just as much fun myself. We hung out in the playground, chatted over a bite in the café, and of course we couldn't leave without a photo with Bingo. 

What struck me most was how comfortable Oli was being 12 *and* loving this. No eye-rolling, no "I'm too old for this". Just curiosity, a great sense of humour and a lot of questions about how everything worked, the way only a kid who loves acting would ask them. It's exactly what we mean by sparking playful curiosity: an experience that meets a child where their passion is right now. And it's a reminder that play doesn't have an age limit.
